With new technology today everything is a little more complicated. Within all this new and improved technology we expect things to run amazingly. Now they usually do and we dont really think of what goes on to make it work so good. When we do think of this is when it doesnt work. As well things arent as easy to fix as they were years ago. It used to be a little screw here or there. Now its a panel, computer chip etc. So I am going to tell you a few things that every TV owner should know.
I am quite sure most of us know how to plug in a TV, but if you really want to get the most from the TV you have purchased there are a few things you should know.
Calibrating TVs is one of the most important things you will need to know to optimize your TV viewing. Calibration refers to adjusting the picture settings to get the optimal levels for viewing. This would include such settings as tint, color and brightness. Calibrating TVs can be done on any TV to provide the best look. It is suggested that you do not keep the factory setting when you bring the TV home. You will need to check a quick TV calibration DVD; the reason for this is when the TVs are in the showroom the settings are quite high. They will not look right when you have your TV home.
You will especially want to do a HDTV calibration as those settings are for a well defined picture and you want to make sure the settings are correct, again this is to optimize your viewing. A TV calibration can also be done to distinguish between day and evening TV watching. Your TV will have many modes you just need to program one for day or night. Experts also say when calibrating a TV, make sure you do each input separately. The reason for this is the brightness you may need for you DVD will be different of that for your VCR.
I realize this may sound like a lot and can be very confusing. Do know for a few hundred dollars you can have a professional come in to do this. It is said it is quite easy to do on your own. Maybe ask a friend and see if they can show you how to calibrate your TV. If all of this fails and you are still feeling uncomfortable doing it you can always purchase the software. Of course they have software for everything else they definitely have TV calibration software. There are a few different software programs out there that will help you with calibrating TV’s. It will have different steps in there for TV, VCR, DVD and HDTV. Make sure you read each step carefully and it should be easy to do. If you have troubles they will have a customer service on the software as well. Heres to a well calibrated TV.
